Is the word "FICO" a trademarked word?
FICO is a trademarked name along with about 50 aliases which are also trademarked but that doesn't mean you can't use it for your purpose. In general you can use a trademark when referring to the product or service that trademark represents as long as you display the trademark symbol next to the trademark name. Trademark law prevents you from using the name for a competing product. Read the usage restrictions in the link. Even though you can probably legally use the name since you will be using it in a negative sense they may sue to prevent you from using it. Note their use of the phrase "Fair Isaac reserves the right to object to any use of Fair Isaac Marks ...... even if that use is not expressly prohibited by these Usage Requirements". That doesn't mean they would win in court. It just gives them the right to sue if they don't like your usage. Also, there are usually no penalties involved in trademark infringement cases as long as the offending party agrees to stop using the trademark when they are notified of the objection to usage. I'd suggest you consult with a trademark attorney.
