Is the canadian citizenship granted after getting residency?

Citizenship does not happen automatically after becoming a permanent resident. You must live in Canada for at least 3 years before applying for citizenship. There is no guarantee that you will receive citizenship and the govt does not give info on the percentage of people who p the test.
