Can budgies and bourkes mate?

We have had a female bourke parakeet for a couple of years, and she lays an egg or two about once a month. Recently, my brother's male budgie (the green kind that are about $15 at a pet store) moved into our house for the winter. Out of pure curiousity, can these two different breeds of parakeet mate and reproduce?
